Test version 0.1.90
How to use Chatwing AI
Chatwing AI drafts replies in web conversations. It does not send messages for you: review each result and send it yourself. Some features depend on the structure of the current site.
1. Install the test build
- Download the archive and extract it to a permanent folder.
- Open
chrome://extensionsin Chrome, enable Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked. - Select the folder containing
manifest.json. After updating the test build, reload the extension and the conversation tab.
2. Connect access and a model
- Open @chatwing_auth_bot for trial access or a subscription.
- In Settings, enter the license key and select Check subscription. Alternatively, create a Telegram code, send it to the bot, and select Check link.
- Read the privacy notice and enable consent to process conversation data.
- Choose OpenRouter under Provider. Your license grants access through the Chatwing server, without entering an API key.
- Run Test AI connection. Choose a free, budget or Claude Sonnet model in Settings. The API key stays on the server.
3. Draft a reply
- Open a conversation, select an incoming message, and use the Chatwing AI toolbar icon, the page AI button, or the context menu.
- Choose Reply or Generate. You can add a request in the panel. Reply options in Settings selects one, two or three suggestions.
- Review the meaning, name, facts, and tone. Insert fills the site's chat field; if no editable field is found, use Copy. You send the message yourself.
4. Translate and improve
- TL translates selected text: Russian to English and other languages to Russian. It replaces selected text in an editable field when possible; otherwise it shows and copies the result.
- Improve corrects, improves, and may expand the selected phrase, returning English only. Appropriate slang and emoji depend on its editable instruction.
- AT toggles a Russian translation displayed under generated English phrases. It is not inserted into the chat with the reply.
- PG toggles extra page context. AUTO, FREE, or PRIVATE indicates what chat state the extension could detect from the page; detection can be imperfect.
5. Customize behavior
In Settings, add your persona under Who I am and my style, optional Free and Private rules, and offers. Prompts and separate AI instructions are editable on the left. Improve button (English) controls the Improve button, while Improve shortcut controls the separate /improve command in the original language. Changes are stored on this device.
For an individual conversation, use Prompt for contact and Memory for contact in the chat panel. Keep notes specific to that contact. Memory can be edited or cleared.
6. Memory and the member cabinet
On known chat sites and previously activated sites, available history may be collected locally before the panel is opened. The extension attempts to read active-chat history from the last 60 days, but a site may not expose all of it. Up to 32,000 characters may be used for a compact summary; ordinary replies use available memory and up to 15 recent messages. AI requests require a user action and consent. Optional semantic memory sends message text to OpenRouter Embeddings and stores vectors locally. The semantic-memory model is managed by the server independently of the reply model.
Use Member spending log to record USD, EUR, or token amounts manually; amounts are not included in AI requests. Member cabinet supports search and exports an Excel workbook with Members, Spending, and Notes sheets. The file contains private information, so store it carefully.
7. Troubleshooting
- Panel missing: reload the tab and open the extension again. Extensions cannot run on Chrome internal pages.
- No AI result: check consent, license, AI allowance, and Test AI connection.
- History missing from a reply: open the correct chat, check whether earlier messages are visible, and inspect that contact's memory. The extension cannot read history the site does not expose.
- Insertion failed: use Copy and paste manually. Never send API keys or complete private conversations to support.
